Thursday - Weekly Food Distribution Day

Every Thursday is a food distribution day. 29th July 2010 was the Weekly Food Distribution Day of The Dhaka Project School. Students were lined-up according to their grades as usual.
Names were called by Mr. Azad based on the weekly class presence. Volunteer Clotilde (Portugal) and Visitor Ayakkimoto (Emirates Airline Cabin Crew) distributed food bags among the students.
Bags containing Rice, Lentil, Potato, Onions, Garlic & Eggs were distributed among the students from 3:30 P.M.
Bag full of weekly diet food recommended by TDP Medical Centre reduces the burden of nutrition among the student’s family. Every Thursday is a happy day for the student’s of TDPS.

Volunteer Thanakorn Donates books for Library

25th July 2010, Thai Volunteer Thanakorn is spending busy time at The Dhaka Project School for the last two weeks.
He has a keen interest on the Liberation War of Bangladesh. He also visited the Liberation War Museum at Dhaka. On Sunday at 1:10 P.M.
Thanakorn handed over various books available on Liberation War (Bangladesh)of 1971 to Parveen Sultana, Principal of The Dhaka Project School.
The donated books (some in English and some in Bangla) will be kept in the library at the History Corner Shelve for the readers.

Awareness program on demerits of Early Marriage

24th July 2010. Awareness program on demerits of early marriage was held on the roof-top of The Dhaka Project School at 11:00 A.M.
Although it was Saturday, a school holiday but the female students were present for the pre-scheduled awareness program.
A 2 hour long session on the demerits of early marriage included early pregnancy, HIV positive, discontinuation of school education etc. Faria (TDP family Counselor) organized the program and took the session.
Such program on awareness draws a positive impact on the minds of the students and makes them more conscious about health.

New Tooth for Firoza

21 July 2010. Firoza Akter (13) Class-7, ID-588, of The Dhaka Project School was suffering from toothache for a long time.
Firoza visited Dr. Md. Amirul Islam, Dental Surgeon of TDP at the Health Care Centre in May 2010. After a X-ray report Dr. Amirul decided that a root canal is necessary.
After a few weeks treatment a new (Crown) Cap was set on her previous tooth which is hardly recognizable. Firoza feels comfortable now.
The Dhaka Project Dental Section checks all students within six months interval (twice a year).

Names were called by Mr. Azad based on the weekly class presence. Two Portuguese Volunteers Joao and Dr David Aristoteles distributed weekly bags among the Students at 4:00 PM.
The Food Bags contains Rice, Lentil, Potato, Onions, Garlic & Eggs.
Bag full of weekly diet food recommended by TDP Medical Centre reduces the burden of nutrition among the student’s family.
Every Thursday is a happy day for the student’s of TDPS.

Books Distributed for Pre School

17th July 2010, Students of Daycare, Play Group & Nursery were busy in their classes.
At 10:00 A.M. drawing Books, writing books and pictures were brought.
These books were handed over to the class teacher.
The students will practice on these books. The little kids were very happy.
The Cabin Crews of Emirates Airline brought these Books from Dubai through on flight to Dhaka.
The Dhaka Project is always grateful to them and also to all the anonymous donors in Dubai.

Cookies Distribution at Pre School

14th July 2010, Students of Daycare, Play Group & Nursery were busy in their classes. At 10:00 A.M. Cookies were brought.
Students were very happy when Mr. Azad distributed cookies among the students.
The Cabin Crews of Emirates Airline bought these cookies for the children of The Dhaka Project.
The Dhaka Project is always grateful to them.

Awareness program by Portuguese Volunteer

10th July 2010. Portuguese Volunteer Dr. Aristoteles took a demonstration class for 100 students on the roof-top of The Dhaka Project School at 10:30 A.M.
Saturday is a school holiday but the students were present for the pre-scheduled awareness program. The program was on various skin diseases mainly focusing on Scabies, Acne, Pimple and Fungal Infection.
Slide shows of diseases were shown on multimedia. Description of common diseases and how to get proper treatment were also discussed. Dr. Md. Amirul Islam (TDP dentist) acted as an interpreter and Faria (TDP family Counselor) helped to organize the program.
Such program on awareness draws an positive impact on the minds of the students and makes them more conscious about health.

First Quarter Report Card Day at School

06th April 2010, It was the first quarter Report Card Day of The Dhaka Project School (TDPS). The class teachers distributed Report Cards among the students.
It is compulsory for the parents to be present during the report card distribution.
All students along with their parents seemed to be present.
Students were advised to do even better in the up coming examination.
Parents were advised to take proper care of the weaker students.
Some students were cautioned for getting poor grades.
The teachers were pleased with the students securing higher grades in the exam.

Volunteers at work in The Dhaka Project School

5th July 2010, 4 Volunteers from Portugal, 1 from Ireland Republic and 1 from Norway are spending busy time at The Dhaka Project School for the last two weeks.
   
Catarina Rosa is working with the Nursery section teaching the little blooming flowers how to write. She finds it much enjoyable with the nursery kids as they are so cute and polite.
  
Doctor Aristoteles is helping Doctor Jahid Hossain at the TDP Health Care Centre. A student is showing his leg which is a case of Dog Bite. Aristoteles is also sharing his knowledge of medical science with Jahid Hossain.
   
Joao is teaching English to the junior students and taking practice classes on work sheets. Students seem to enjoy their classes with great joy. Having a foreign volunteer teacher inspires the students very much.
   
Oscar is an IT professional and taking oral Computer classes teaching them the basic knowledge of operations. Students are keen to learn more about IT (Information Technology).
   
Anna (Irish) marking the library books with catalogs. She indeed took a mammoth task pasting all catalogs on the books. It will help the book worms to choose any book very easily form the right corner.
   
Anne (Norway) is working on how to manage more sponsors for the students. She is helping the Sponsorship Desk and also spending some time in the School Library…helping Anna (Irish) with the catalogs.

Mango!----King of Fruits Distributed

5th July 2010, it’s rainy season in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Students of The Dhaka Project School (TDPS) entering the school premise from 8:15 A.M.---some in rain coats—some with umbrellas----some with morning showers! It is the end of mango season.
At 9:15 A.M. basket full mangoes were brought. Lengra---the best quality of mangoes available in Bangladesh were distributed by Mr. Azad among all the 500 students.
This fruit is considered as the king of fruits for its delicious taste and magnificent scent. The students were advised to wash the mangoes before eating.
Fruit distribution day is always the happiest day of the month. The fruit distribution was promoted by a Volunteer named Ferre, The Dhaka Project is continuing the program every month from its own fund.

Every Thursday is a food distribution day. As the school was on summer vacation for 10 long days, 1st July 2010 was the Weekly Food Distribution Day of The Dhaka Project School.
Students were lined-up according to their grades as usual.
Names were called by Mr. Azad based on the weekly class presence.
All the students were provided with double quantity of food.
